First things first: can you freeze cookie dough? The answer is a resounding yes! Freezing cookie dough is an easy and convenient way to ensure that you always have freshly baked cookies on hand, without needing to spend hours in the kitchen every time you get a cookie craving.
Moreover, many cookie doughs contain ingredients like butter and eggs that can spoil if left out too long, so freezing them is actually a smart way to prolong their shelf life.
How to Freeze Cookie Dough
The process of freezing cookie dough is actually quite simple. Start by scooping the dough into balls, and placing them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Pop the cookie sheet in the freezer, and leave it there until the dough balls are frozen solid (usually takes about an hour or so). Once the balls are frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container, and store them in the freezer until you're ready to bake them.
When it's time to bake, simply take out the desired number of dough balls and let them thaw for 10-15 minutes or so before baking, as otherwise, they may not spread and cook as intended.
